naked, obviously
Being naked provides the most protection ever
Tbh, when I first started out a year ago, I was all for the military. I was switching between desert and forest constantly up until a few months ago. A few months ago I noticed players in black gear were taking more shots, and thought it was the thief gear. I wore thief gear for a few weeks when I realized, Spec Ops was black also. I switched to Spec Ops and now I do well on the servers, protection wise.
I mix it up with the thief set as it has the best storage. Don't need that much armor anyway

Explain when you say that you don't need that much armor. I could live without all the space as long as I get good weapons, and gear that protects me best.

I don't heavily rely on armor. I'd rather have more storage space than armor.
People never aim for the arms or legs, and on another thread I've read that if you wear the Spec Ops vest, the armour on your hands and legs are reduced. So, if it is reduced, why not just simply stick with thief and get More space?
On Freezzer I seen sometbing I've never seen before. People jump and go prone and tbey usually shot the legs. I don't really know the difference between the thief and Spec ops based on protection, but I might switch to thief for more medkits and ammo

TBH, prone is bad unless you attack them first, because if you do while getting shot at, then they can easily just aim at your head which is the only thing visible and kill you, skill or not as you give them not much of choice.

True, never thought of it that way. Gives ne a total new thought on the prone tactic
It's effective in arena as people usually one tap and prone can really help reduce the recoil, plus not everyone has maple strikes or honey badgers.
wow, I just learned some good info. Thx
You're welcome!
In general the spec ops top and bottom just aren't necessary in my opinion. About the proning tactic, I disagree with Gray. It isn't only effective in arena. Drop shots are really useful in many situations and it's not only about the recoil
Acid as I said it's not good whenever you're getting attacked, because you expose only your head, with the health that you have left (because they always chip off a little bit or more of it before you turn around and do something). I know about the drop shots, that's why I said you shouldn't prone unless you're attacking first (or in some cases, it's a reflex to look back and prone and it works) as the drop shots bring your your bullets down, which is very useful for maplestrike users as the recoil is vertical and they don't have that much time to control recoil as they get ambushed from behind, but it's worth a try!
Everyone has their own opinion.
And buddy, I didn't say that prone is ONLY good in arena, if you read my post, I didn't write 'ONLY'. Which means I didn't claim that the effective use of prone is ONLY restricted to arena, obviously there's more effective uses, but I didn't mention them.
"that's why I said you shouldn't prone unless you're attacking first" Why not? It throws their aim off and it improves yours making it easier to kill them. I don't know, it always works for me. Just requires good reaction time and aim.
Everyone has their own opinion and fighting style.
Wow, everyone having a little trouble with these servers should get plenty of good information out of this.
Good job guys, you have probally helped at least 5 people who read this
I'll definitely look into this stuff some more. Spec ops is definitely good for protection, not sure if it is better than military, and I'll have to check back on the thief gear.
But, we still haven't heard from the ghillie users. Can one please comment here so we can learn what you feel about your choice in gear.
