Invisible Hacker

As some of you may have noticed there is a quite a significant issue on the Washington (might be on PEI too) Sandbox server, which is the more or less notorious "invisible guy".

To be brief, someone seems to have found a way to not only use the /vanish and /god commands, but also to make it impossible for players to find out anything about their identity, as he/she/apache does not appear in the players list nor in the kill-screen (notably they do appear as ?[?], though I don't see how that can be of any use).

I think it goes without saying that someone with this kind of power who also abuses it pretty much makes the game unplayable, as I have lost more than 0.04 points of kdr just because of it.

For the sake of the server, not mine, please take action.

Hello Sovereign,

Everyone is well aware of this situation and I've already brought it up to Freenex. Apparently this is caused by you or that player's connection to the server. From my experience, you'd just have to rejoin the server and you'll be able to see that player.

I've not been getting that problem anymore recently so it's quite strange that you have it. It's not a hacker nor an abusive admin.

Just simply leave the server and join another. Or come back after 15 mins and this problem will be fixed.

Can you provide me your Logs folder? (Steam/steamapps/common/Unturned/Logs) You'll find two files, I need them both.

This has been going on the whole week. The dude is clearly hacking i'm being killed by melee weapons by [?]. He even get's me when i'm insides premade buildings.

If you talk to him, you'll be dead soon. He teleports on people and it' instantly destroys all playermade structures. Before you ask ! NO it's not a rocket launcher or any explosives.

Everytime he teleports on me while i'm in my base, everythings is destroyed (scorpion 7). And like 10+ sentries depops, all my vault doors depops, our bed depops, and he kills my team and i with fists one bye one.

I even witnessed him on my death cam (he killed me at spawn) and he was punching players spawning at the same spot as me to death, 1 by 1.

This is not a sniper, not a suppressed gun, this is someone walking and punching or using melee weapons.

Sovereign Check your Client_Prev.log. You can sometimes see Failed to find player: xx. That means your client sometimes doesn't get the information that a new player connected to the server, this will result in [?] when you die from that player. And of course you can't hear or see him when your client doesn't get the info to add him to the game. [?] isn't always the same player.

The thing is, if you rejoin, your client will ask for all players again. ⇒ [?] is gone.

But that's just a theory.

I think that may not be the case, as the player seems to toy with others rather than outright killing them, like purposefully missing or dealing a low amount of damage. Moreover, both me and my teammate have been attacked by the same person, which neither of us could see or hear, and it's worth noting we didn't log at the same time.

I have been killed by "???" before. Not since batte-eye tho. And every time such a ??? is present other players also complain about a hacker. So, although freenex provides a credible possible theory, id like to put forward a counter:

The player is connecting with a software that disguises his connection client info so that it doesn't register on server data, making him invisible and unhittable to other players.

Do you think this is possible?

I still do not think it's a hacker. I've met a lot of "?" players and I've been one a couple of times before too, without my knowledge until the guy starts calling hacks. Just rejoin the server and it's fine most of the time.

I have noticed when I have been killed by "?" there is always a glitched or frozen player at a spawn area. If you shoot at them nothing happens not even blood splatters.

I think its a hack, because sometime before , when i was an admin in a server , i use vanish all the time , but sometimes my "body" is left where i did the command while me my "soul" is walking around , i still take damage when they punch or hit me , but when im without the range of that "body" then i dont take damage anymore ..

That's weird. It's usually "?". In your case it's probably different cos you said you haven't encountered any since Battleye.

In the video I posted, the guy never killed me so I didn't see if it came across as ??? or ?, but other people were able to see his name "sheepy"
The weird thing is, he didn't have a Steam profile setup and that server is configured to kick those that don't, or those with VAC bans.

The server also never announced that he joined/left, or won the arena. When I died, it just said "Dank died" 1 and the new match started

I was talking with Acid, watch closely between 1:24-1:32, and notice the angles I'm getting shot from. The first headshot came from the tractor/tunnel near the road based on the blood splatter, than the next 6 shots (2 bursts of 3) hit the tree to my right coming from the same direction. I than ran down the hill behind the trees and immediately get shot in the head again, this time coming from the trees I just ran from? I still have no idea what kind of weapon has a fire rate like that, with that low of damage lol.

I've been hearing a lot of crazy things like this in the last few days, I really hope Nelson looks into it
